What a joy it was to do a “First 48” newborn session for our sweet friends, the Gormongs, as they welcomed precious little Zion Emerick to the world! Fresh from heaven… 7 lbs 3 oz & 20 1/4 in. He’s just perfection! I think he even smiled for me…. 🙂 See the last picture of this post to judge for yourself. 😉
We met the Gormongs in Mississippi almost 20 years ago, where John & Philip attended Wesley Biblical Seminary together… It’s so hard to believe it’s been that long!! And now it just so happens we’re all living in Indiana, where both guys are on staff with missions organizations AND our kiddos attend the same homeschool co-op! It’s been so fun to reconnect with Phillip & Kara and get to know their family! Zion is #5, with 4 amazing siblings…. Adalynn, Gwen, Asher & Payton. He’s already so well-loved and is so blessed to have his big brothers & big sisters to look up to & show him the ropes of life! Not to mention, he has two totally amazing parents, who love Jesus and will love him so well!
When Kara announced Zion’s arrival into this world, she shared the lyrics from Bethel Music’s “Goodness of God,” and they’re just so beautiful… I thought it was worth re-sharing in this blog post for them.
“And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In the darkest night
You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a Father
I’ve known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God”
Thank you Kara & Philip, for letting me come into the intimate space of your first hours with Zion and capturing this time for you all. It was truly an honor. I hope you treasure these photos forever. So happy for you guys! Much love to you & your beautiful family of 7!!!
Oh my! Those last two are my favorites! 🥰
